Chasms

A poem based on the last scene from the episode Day of Honor

I feel the chasm between us close

and neither one of us consciously knows

what kept us apart for so long,

perhaps it was fear that was so strong.

The walls I built up are falling apart,

there was an attraction between us from the start.

The look in your eye seems to say

I wouldn’t choose to die any other way.

You pull me close and hold me tight,

we won’t give up without a fight.
